Our Featured Artist: Garbo (Chuck Hajinian)

“I want my paintings to point out the beauty in nature...”

Garbo’s artistic talent has roots deep into his family. His mother paints, his daughter is a passionate young photographer, and his wife is his partner in the ceramic tile making. He was inspired by the works of Monet, after visiting his big exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1990.

“The beauty of the colors and the play of sunlight caught my attention right to my soul. I picked up the brush and began to paint. I have not stopped,” states Garbo.

Being a successful dentist and dealing with the finest aspects of the profession, Aesthetics, was not a broad enough field for the talented artist. He gains true inspiration in his studio, located on a beautiful hill, overlooking Lake Nagawicka in Delafield.

Garbo’s latest field of expression is changing mediums: from acrylic, oil and pastel paintings on canvas, silk and paper, to works of clay. The Raku Fired Tiles are exceptional pieces of art, made of clay, through a special firing process. They are offered to exclusive galleries, and are only a limited number, each one unique and signed by the artist. Each piece has its own history and meaning. Together they comprise the Red Horse Series, a symbol of energy, passion, and streamlined to the future.

“I am trying to imitate perfection. If I can show [my work], I hope it leads people to see the real beauty, the source, in what God has created.”
